An introduction to new online content

Sampler Description

For the first time, the Bray is offering online digital content as a new resource for our students. This sampler is our way to connect with our community during an unprecedented time of isolation and offer our students a bit of the studio while at home.

This bundle offers unlimited access for 3 months to the four courses and digital craft project magazine listed below. Content includes 4 hours of demonstration videos, project worksheets for each course, educational content for artists of all ages and so much more! Bray Box: projects for young artists

Young artists will enjoy this course which covers three different projects. We welcome artists with no experience with clay but who are eager to learn! This introductory course is designed to give young artists between the ages of 8–13 a hands-on, educational, and artistic experience using clay sculpturally. Participants will learn fundamental sculpting techniques such as coil building, pinching and handbuilding to create functional and non-functional work. Content includes three demonstration videos, a tool list, project worksheet and suggestions for further application.

Handbuilding Cups with Sunshine Cobb

Learn from Sunshine Cobb how to handbuild cups with soft slabs and coilbuilding as well as her techniques for making and attaching handles. Content includes three demonstration videos, a tool list, project worksheet and suggestions for further application.

Tar Paper Templates with Nicholas Danielson

Learn from Nicholas Danielson how to create multiples of a form with pre-cut tar paper templates. Using the same templates that students can purchase from the Archie Bray Clay Business, Danielson will demonstrate in how to build a cup, bowl, oval dish and vase. Content includes four demonstration videos, a tool list, project worksheet and suggestions for further application.

Image Transfer and Press Mold with Jason Bige Burnett

Learn how to transfer underglaze stencils to leather hard plates. Then listen and follow along as Jason describes how he considers and resolves surface design and allows for play and spontaneity!
